ABOUT MATT

Matt Humphrey is a portrait & street photographer & filmmaker, based in Brighton, UK. He is best known for his work in live performance and film. His intimate portraits and insightful behind-the-scenes photography reflect the sensitivity to the process, and he has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. Personal work explores the relationship of the artist and their environment through the juxtaposition of space, using film photography.

Matt's work has been exhibited and published internationally, and his first book 'Curtain Call' was published in 2016. Matt has shot unit stills and poster photography for numerous films. Selected commissions and clients include Working Title, Lions Gate Films, Universal, Samsung, Burn (Coca-Cola), FatFace, British Library, Royal Academy, the Guardian, Financial Times, You Magazine, and the National Theatre.

Matt is a two-time winner of the British Journal of Photography 'Portrait of Britain' Award, for his portraits of writer Sir Tom Stoppard (2017), and actor Jeremy Irons (2019).
